Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, together with his wife Ri Sol Ju, visited the bier of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter Hwang Sun Hui, deputy to the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and director general of the Korean Revolution Museum, on January 17 to express his deep condolences over her death.

He was accompanied by Pak Pong Ju, Ri Man Gon, Ri Il Hwan, Choe Hwi, Ri Pyong Chol, Pak Thae Dok, Pak Thae Song, Kim Yong Chol and Kim Hyong Jun, vice-chairmen of the WPK Central Committee.

Amid the playing of the funeral music, mourners were grief-stricken over the death of Hwang Sun Hui, a steadfast woman revolutionary and war veteran of the first generation of the Korean revolution, who waged a bloody struggle against the Japanese imperialists under the command of President Kim Il Sung and supported ChairmanKim Jong Il’s revolutionary leadership with faith and moral obligation.

The Supreme Leader, in the company of his wife, observed a moment’s silence in memory of Hwang Sun Hui who performed outstanding exploits in safeguarding and adding brilliance to the WPK’s revolutionary traditions and ensuring that the spirit of Mt Paektu and the fighting spirit of self-reliance displayed in the anti-Japanese battle sites prevailed throughout society, cherishing boundless loyalty to the leader, the spirit of devoted service to the Party and the revolution and the unshakeable revolutionary principle.

He went round the bier in bitter grief over the death of a precious revolutionary forerunner who supported the WPK with single-hearted loyalty.

He then met with family members of the deceased to express his deep condolences and console them in their sorrow.
